About me
Australian author, L.J. Langdon lives in the rural-residential outskirts of Brisbane, with her husband, two dogs, one cat and three chickens. She also as many, many Jade Perch growing in an aquaponics veggie garden, but these are only to be mentioned when deciding what’s for dinner.
Friends and family call L.J. many things; funny, friendly, loyal, perfectionist, nerd, antisocial, strange chicken lady, weird and even, doomsday prepper. However, as she doesn’t own a gun, this last accusation is untrue. She just likes fresh homegrown produce.
A member of Romance Writers of Australia since 2008, L.J. Langdon has attended many writer’s conferences which have helped her hone and learn new skills. However, it wasn’t until her two children moved out that she decided she needed some empty nest therapy. So she followed her passion for reading and writing and undertook, and successfully completed, an Associate Degree of Creative Writing at Southern Cross University.
Although she loves her part-time day job, she much prefers to relax over a keyboard creating paranormal adventures. She often throws her characters into worlds where nothing is as it seems and her heroes and heroines are forced to make life-changing decisions. What is right? What is wrong?
Well, sometimes there is no right or wrong, sometimes there is only survival.

Your writing doesn’t just tell a story; it invites the reader to live within it.

Hello L.J.,
My name is Jasmine, and I’m reaching out on behalf of the Around the Year in 52 Books reading community, a vibrant and discussion-driven group of readers who enjoy discovering imaginative, engaging, and memorable books across many different genres.
Throughout 2026, our community is hosting the 2026 Reading Challenge, running from January 1 through December 31. The challenge encourages readers to explore diverse titles while sharing reflections, reactions, and ongoing discussions about the books they read. The emphasis is not simply on finishing books, but on meaningful engagement and the kinds of conversations that compelling stories naturally inspire.
While exploring titles that might resonate with our community, I came across Blood Secret: A Soul Guardians Novella, and its premise immediately stood out. The dynamic between Kristof, a sworn Soul Guardian determined to hunt down Blood Demons—and Emma, a woman struggling with voices in her head and the fear that she may be losing her sanity, creates a powerful tension that feels both emotional and suspenseful. The idea that the hunter begins to question his mission when confronted with someone he is meant to destroy adds a fascinating moral and emotional complexity to the story.
Paranormal adventures that blend supernatural conflict with themes of identity, trust, and forbidden connection often lead to some of the most engaging conversations among readers. Emma’s struggle to understand whether her visions are madness or a deeper truth, combined with Kristof’s conflict between duty and instinct, creates the kind of layered storytelling that invites readers to reflect on questions of destiny, loyalty, and what it truly means to be human.
Your background as a passionate storyteller also adds an interesting dimension to your work. Living on the rural outskirts of Brisbane and drawing inspiration from everyday life while crafting paranormal worlds where nothing is quite what it seems, you bring a personal voice to the genre. Your dedication to developing your craft, through your involvement with Romance Writers of Australia and completing an Associate Degree in Creative Writing,, reflects a deep commitment to storytelling. It’s always inspiring for readers to discover authors who bring both imagination and thoughtful character development into their work.
One of the aspects authors find most valuable about participating in the 2026 Reading Challenge is the long-term visibility it creates. Rather than a brief promotional moment, featured books receive steady attention throughout the year as readers share updates, post reflections, and participate in discussion threads within the community. This often leads to deeper curiosity and organic discovery as readers recommend titles to one another and revisit books that spark meaningful conversation.
As the challenge progresses, the community also highlights ten standout authors whose books generate particularly strong reader engagement and discussion, recognizing titles that inspire memorable conversations and lasting reader interest.
Because Blood Secret blends paranormal suspense, emotional conflict, and the mystery of a hidden heritage, I believe it could resonate strongly with many members of our community and lead to some exciting discussions.
If you’d be open to it, I would love to explore featuring your book within the challenge. Participation is straightforward, and I would be happy to share more details with you.
Warm regards,
Jasmine

Hi Jasmine
Thank you, I’d be very interested in discussing participation in this event if it isn’t too late. If you like, I can email you directly. As I don’t have an author email, my response will be from my personal email.
